Accessibility statement

Accessibility is the foundation of how XCell builds, not a box we check at the end. We design and build to the current WCAG standard, WCAG 2.1 and 2.2 Level AA, from the first wireframe, and we test against it before anything ships. This demonstration site for the City of Tempe Arts & Culture was built that way, and this page is held to the same standard as the rest of it.

Our commitment

We pair automated scans with manual keyboard and screen-reader testing, and we design for real access beyond the technical standard: clear language, readable structure, and support for residents who do not speak English as a first language. We test with people who rely on assistive technology, including blind users through the National Federation of the Blind’s BUILD program, so conformance is proven with real people, not just claimed.

To us, accessibility is a human right. If a resident cannot complete a task, the work is not done.

How this site conforms

Every page of this site, including this one, is designed and tested to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA.

  • Automated testing with axe-core (WCAG 2.0 / 2.1 / 2.2 A & AA) on every page, run on every build.
  • Manual keyboard-operability testing: skip links, focus management, focus traps, and the interactive seat map, which is a single tab stop with arrow-key navigation and Enter to select.
  • Visible focus indicators on every interactive control, and a sticky header that never hides the element you have focused.
  • A keyboard-navigable text-list alternative to the interactive seat map.
  • Respect for reduced-motion preferences, semantic structure, landmarks, and descriptive labels.

Compatibility

Built to work with current versions of major browsers and assistive technologies, including screen readers such as VoiceOver, NVDA, and JAWS.

Known limitations

  • The interactive seat map presents a specific spatial arrangement of seats, so individual seat targets can be smaller than 24×24 px (a permitted WCAG “essential” exception). A keyboard-navigable text list of the same seats, with larger targets, is always provided as an equivalent.
  • Live ticketing and maps are supplied by third parties (Spektrix, Google Maps). We present them accessibly but do not control their internal markup.

Feedback

We welcome feedback on the accessibility of this site. In a live engagement, XCell and the City’s Arts & Culture office maintain a monitored channel and commit to a response within a set timeframe, because a statement is only worth as much as the fix behind it.
